My friend Lisa and I went on a little girls trip to B'ham over the weekend! We left Saturday afternoon and got to my friend Vickey's in enough time to color her hair and then go out. We met up with some of Vickey's friends and had a great dinner and then headed out to go see some live music. This place O'Kafe's was having an event to raise money for the Birmingham Folk Festival. There were 3 bands that played, but we got there in enough time to see 2 of them. Great music! It was a really cool place and the bands were really good. It was nice to just sit and listen to some good music. We spent the night at Vickey's and got to wake up to good coffee and great conversation. I love my kids, but it was a nice morning off:) Wilson sent me a text saying he missed me. It's funny when a 3 year old wants to send a text instead of talking on the phone! Headed back to Auburn after Lisa cut Vickey's hair and doing some jewelery shopping. Vickey is a great artist and has amazing jewelery that she makes. Lisa and I decided we will have to have a show for her in Auburn in the fall so everyone else can get to see her work.Headed home that afternoon.....my kids were happy to see me. Okay....gotta go...Emery just went pee on the floor! (she is starting to go on the potty, but we didn't quite make it)The life of a mom....

So last night we played the Summer Swing Concert Series in Opelika, AL. What a great night! The weather was beautiful, there was a great crowd, it was just perfect. You cannot beat the weather down south these days. It's not humid. What? Middle of July and it's not humid. It's crazy nice. The place where they hold this concert series is at this great park. There are like 5 playgrounds, tons of shade, and a train! We had Wilson's 3rd birthday party there last year and he had a blast. I took the kids there on Saturday hoping the train would be working, but it was being repaired. Wilson was bummed. But last night it was in full working condition. They call it monkey park, but I have not seen any monkeys yet. Rob is doing a recording session right now with a great spoken word artist here in town.I scrubbed the floor today for 2 hours? I'm not kidding. If you have hardwood floors DO NOT use Orange Glow on them! I had a nasty, caked on film that would not come up. I actually had to get on my hands and knees and scrub it off with a scrub brush! The whole downstairs! Good thing we don't have a big house! Arms are sore.I'm rambling....Here's Rob, Pat & I after the show:)
